Basic search options (1/4)
When you open AntConc by double clicking the icon the interface shows the concordance tool by default. The concordance tool allows you to search for matching words or character strings.
Overview of basic search settings:
- “Search Term”: enter a search term in the box
- "Words": check to search for words or uncheck the box to search for character strings
- "Case": perfom case-sensitive searches by checking the box
- "Search Window Size": set the number of characters preceding and following your search term
- Start: generate concordance lines. The number of total hits found in your file(s) is shown in the “Concordance Hits” window
- Clone Results: save your results to your computer
Perfom a simple search:
Enter The as search term and check the "Words" option. Click on Start to run your search. These search settings return all instances of the article the, i.e. both capital and lowercase occurrences.
